Second Chance Animal Adoption (SCAA) is dedicated to caring for homeless animals in Bonners Ferry, Idaho and the surrounding Boundary County area. SCAA is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization run by a board of directors. We have many dedicated volunteers that help to make this organization run efficiently. We have a thrift store which helps to financially support our mission. We also support our work though donations.

Recent News-Shelter Progress
SCAA is extremely excited to announce that we are in the process of building a new shelter for housing cats and dogs. The thrift store on Lincoln St. and the adjacent property have been purchased by Second Chance, property of sufficient size to welcome this new facility. With operations of the thrift store and the shelter in convenient proximity to each other costs will be minimized and we will be able to provide better care for the lost and abandoned pets of Boundary County. Construction is going very well, and we are presently ahead of schedule on the project. We anticipate opening the shelter as soon as this summer, so keep checking back here to find out when the big OPENING CEREMONY will be! The organization is looking for volunteers for the shelter, donated products, and support for this project -if you're interested just call Nichole at 267-2815. At the present time, SCAA cares for cats at our thrift store and through foster homes. All dogs are cared for through foster homes. SCAA is actively seeking more foster homes to help with the overpopulation of animals. We show pets by appointment, at the convenience of those who call.
All our animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and de-wormed as needed. SCAA’s adoption committee works VERY hard at matching the correct dog or cat with just the right home. We accept applications for all animals that are up for adoption and choose just the right match.
SCAA has an active feral cat program. The organization has three feeding stations throughout the city and county and several community members have pitched in and also have feeding stations to care for the feral cats that are all spayed and neutered.
The SCAA thrift store in Bonners Ferry is a large part of the organization and something our organization is very proud of. It is open for shopping and donations Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. The store is located at 6647 Lincoln St. Bonners Ferry, ID 83805.
